At least with 4wd you can use the F28.

Gearbox wouldnt be a problem. Ford type 9 would fit with off the shelf bell housings, loads and loads of quaiffe bits available inc 6 speed kits, straight cut, dog boxes etc.

I'd love to make a corsa with the engine and drivetrain from an omega/cartlon. Might be a tad heavy but you could always use Manta/Chevell parts.

4wd is good but on a dry track 2WD is faster, 4wd only comes into its own on a loose or wet track. You don't see many 4wd track cars at all, only rallycross really. Even proper racing skylines are converted to RWD only.

hot rods are also not a corsa, there just a shell over a space frame chassis, I know a family that race hot rods and were local champions for several years, they have a 206 which is just the panels over a space frame chasis! So you can put any configuration that you want pretty much!!
