PaulW, just had a look at your Corsa pics
Never mind how you went on with getting
the engine out, I'm more interested in how you didn't manage to get oily finger marks on the camera lense !
Seriously though, take the head off first
before dropping the block out, is that the easy way ?. If so, how high does the car
have to be to pull the block under ?
Will standard axle jacks do ?

Is there actually any difference between older 1.4 8vs and the Hi Torqs? The Torqs have a gas recirc valve to lower emissions but apart from that?

I used standard axle stands that go 40cm, with two strips of wood adding about 20cm lol. That was without stripping the engines and not taking the driveshafts out. Trouble is getting the driveshafts out of the suspension, you need to jiggle it about, which is difficult balancing it on a jack

In the end, the suspenion tie arm had to be unbolted. The two engines went in and out with all the wiring and manifolds attached.

Some half decent pics here:

You've been very busy mate, thanks for

1.4 hi-torque 14NZ engines are gutless over 50mph. Nippy around towns but really painful over 50, much like the 1.2's.

Hi Torq, suppose they're all pretty good
on fuel.
This should spark off a few comments !

1.5 td, cheap to insure, cheap to run and can get them too 100 bhp without even spending more than 15 quid.

I have a Corsa B which started life as the 1.4 82 bhp motor, thats a nippy torquey engine for what it is, had it from new, when we got it, we tried the 1.4 60 bhp motor, but we were replacing a Nova SRi and the 60 bhp variants felt gutless in comparison, and hey the Sri Corsa is no rocket ship.
We went for the 1.4 82 bhp engine its much quicker than the normal 1.4.

Now the car has a 2.0 16v Red top and some mods but the car is old in total done over 220,000 miles, even though engine is ok, thats done about 56,000.

So just bought a Y reg Corsa Comfort, the newer C style, planning on converting it, but its only done 13,000 miles from new and is a lot less worn out than out Corsa B. Still running the 2.0 and using the Comfort as other car. The 1.2 16v, isnt mega fast, but its damn good for a 1.2 and the performance is linear, i.e its nippy from low speeds and nippy from 80 to its top speed of about 105. Not fast but not bad for what it is, and not too much slower than our original SRi, and thats after being used to a a 2.0 !
