I was reading the tutorial on how drilling holes in your airbox increases the air flow to the engine which makes the engine give a roaring sound....

Does this really work???

Does it increase horsepower? and is the roaring sound a noticable sound?

Please Help

Thanks

well it worked on my XR3i and my XR4x4 (noise wise)

increase in power is not noticeable but it will be there (maybe 0.5bhp)

on a 1.2 efi corsa you can replace the airbox with a universal cone filter if you wish, did it to me mates corsa... cost us about 20quid for the filter and fit straight on the end of the intake hose... you ditch the warm air feed thing from the exhaust manifold when you do this tho

all i done was take out the resonater tube in by air box, although this did leave a v.large hole in the front of the airbox, and it does howl when the 16v's open

if your car is only something like a 1.2 8v then it'll just sound like a loud drone rather than a howl
