Astra sri turbo- standard sri with z20let in, not a patch on a gsi, interior, exterior are far superior on the gsi.
I'll let Ian waffle more on this as his brother has an sri T and his mum a gsi.

Personally id rather have my tb'd nova, but for a car thats quick and practical it has to be the gsi, its just gettiing run in and getting quicker, power whenever you need it (no having to rev to 9k to make it shift) smooth quiet and quick, interior is good in them, the brakes are top too. and they look a lot better than ctrs and dont have the 20yr old boyracer image like the ctr has already.

heres my current runaround

Mate what fuking planet are you on?????????

The SRI Turbo has a full kit designed by Prodrive! I assume you know who they are.Standard indeed.Interior? Big deal! That's why you pay the extra.

And?? I can read what his name is.

SRI Turbo is the same speed and they only made 500 of them.Unlike the shit loads of GSI i see on the roads.

Who was saying that the Astra SRi is slower? Nobody?

All that he has said is that the GSi has a better interior, exactly what I said

Personally would rather have a GSi than a CTR, but then would probably rather have an Escort Cossie over the other 2!

I'm bored with this now. He's defending the GSI because he has one i'm defending the SRI T because i want one.

All down to personal taste at the end of the day.

lol i'd shut up now if i was you corsa nut.

sri turbo has LESS power. now stfu and get your facts right.

the interior in the sri is not a patch on a gsi, standard cloth trim v leather recaros hmm let me think?

wheels borrowed off the coupe, not common - MUCH

the "prodrive" rear splitter is minging look at the fucking state of it looks like some stick on tat from halfords.

sri t kit is now optional on all astras, now thats got to make them rarer looking cars

as for common where you live you dont half talk bollocks as theres none about there.

GSi is marginally quicker I think but I've driven them both and there's absolutely nothing in it.

The GSi also has a nicer interior as its got full leather option.

The GSi cost 2.5k more. Swing, meet roundabout.

I've never actually driven a CTR, I clearly need to, they do have a tremendous amount of hype around them. The Astras do handle very well so the Civic would have to be pretty special to feel better.

Yes, the Civic is not any better than the Astra.

Just the motoring press seem to masterbate about them.

I don't reckon the Astra has been given a fair review.

After seeing it yesterday I would much rather have an Astra than an CTR. Not that I ever even thought about getting a CTR EVER

I think the combination of normal aspiration and a good handling car make the Civic what it is. Perhaps the Astras are let down by poor power delivery and a lack of low down torque. I'm not sure how that comes through in 'real' driving situations as although the engine braking isn't as good for getting the ass out, the bite and turn-in grip is phenominal in mine if you get the turbo working hard enough.

As I say, I'd dearly love to drive one in anger as I know Astras are very good!
