Anyone see the repeat of 5th Gear on Discovery H&L the other day? With the CTR, Focus RS & Leon Cupra (dunno if it was the R)... which one did Tiff choose at the end? It can't be that bad a car then

CTRs are VERY over rated, wheres your torque at?

Astra sri turbo- standard sri with z20let in, not a patch on a gsi, interior, exterior are far superior on the gsi.
I'll let Ian waffle more on this as his brother has an sri T and his mum a gsi.

Personally id rather have my tb'd nova, but for a car thats quick and practical it has to be the gsi, its just gettiing run in and getting quicker, power whenever you need it (no having to rev to 9k to make it shift) smooth quiet and quick, interior is good in them, the brakes are top too. and they look a lot better than ctrs and dont have the 20yr old boyracer image like the ctr has already.

heres my current runaround

It's still an Astra. The CTR doesn't need torque, the iVTEC engine is not about torque, you need to rev it but thats common knowledge surely? The Civic is not slow by anymeans outside of the vtec, still feels more lively than my 106 GTi. Once you hit 6250rpm it really takes off. I'd rather take a Seat or something than an Astra imo but it's all about personal taste

Yes that site looks very informative, written by a complete ''Penis'' by the looks of it eh? Agreed with the 318 ranking at #1 mind...

the think i like about the astra is the amount of torque is has low down, going all the way to the redline. no need to change down, just put your foot down and go

This new ranking has been bolstered by other activities, in particular the hyper aggressive defence of the car on one-make internet discussion boards and a refusal to acknowledge that it isn't necessarily the best hot hatch in the entire world. Honda must be delighted. That really is the kind of utterly twatty behaviour you just can't buy

lol

thats the point though Nik. the Civics engine needs to be rev'd. without revs it's like driving around with a normal 2.0L under the bonnet. turbo cars nowadays have very little lag before the turbo hits full boost. you can drive in a more relaxed fashion. you don't drive a car like it's on a track every day which is what pisses me off when you see mags saying the focus is the best car and all they have done is run it on a tight flat track.

What you mean not a top of the range sport model?! You thick or what? 0-60 in 6.4, 0-100 in 16.2 and 146mph from a 2.0 16v isn't sporty enough?? The Type-R looks miles different from other Civic models
