i was just looking in the corsa catalogue and saw these specs

1.2 16v SXi - 75PS
1.7Di SXi - 65PS
1.7DTi SXi - 75PS

am i right in thinking that my 1.2 SXi would beat the 2 diesels, its just that we have a prick running around with a 1.7DTi and he thinks hes all that! pisses me off....

cheers

he will piss all over you im afraid. the dti 16v has wicked ingear times, 0-60 may be the same, but it will spank the 1.2 too every other speed.

exactly, more to the point its pull isnt high up the revs, its lower down and lasts longer.

1.4 16v sports are quicker than me off the line but if some cocky bastid decideds to sit on my arse once im moving they have no chance. i embarssed a metro gti from 50-100 today, should have seen burbery boys face, highly amusing.

I've driven both 1.2 Sxi and 1.7Dti Sxi cos my Dad is a driving instructor, the deisel feels faster (cos of the torque) but limiter kicks in at aboyt 5,000RPM. I think in a normal race the 1.2 16v would keep up due to it staying in lower gears for longer.

soryy buddy gotta diasagree wit u there. Ok the back box does nothing other than make the back end of the car look better, but the drilled air box (if done right makes a noticable differance)

I recently drilled the air box (including removing the stupid plastic inlet pipe) and the car revs alot more freely and the power comes in earlier and lasts longer (before the power stoped at 5500rpm and it now continues till just under 6000rpm) not a huge diferance but this is just with the standard panel filter!!

The cars accelerates better and responds better then ever. as for beating the dieseli dunno never really drivin one.

Well I got a Scorpion back box, then drilled airbox/extra air feed, then got a PVD panel filter, then got a straight through centre section, and I reckon the panel filter did the most good, and they're only £30 too

gotta agree, next car i buy will be the golf GT TDI 130bhp. Lovely lookin cars really up market and hold there value brilliantly.

The major + point is the fact u can tune these up with the TD boxes and get 160bhp easily from the 130!! (and thats just the mild tune)!!

remember your green fotwell neons they may truly give you the edge.lol

if you remove the cat it will rev alot free-er dunno about gains though. my mate has a tuned 306 d turbo and i used to have a 106 quiksilver and that was faster than my mates 306 which had turbo boost turned up and fuelling up, although neither could lose oneanother. only time he beat me was up a hill, lol thats where the torque of the diesel helps.

anyway i reckon you will get done by a 100bhp one but the 75bhp one i reckon you will beat off mark but you wont lose him or vice versa.

only one way to know for sure, Race him!

where abouts in leeds you from anyway? you ever go to pontefract or brighouse?

sorry m8, went off on one there, u meant the corsa TDI. i reckon it would be even 0-60 but if it was in gear times (ie.. running start it would beat u)

im not suprized, it has 64 bhp. its lacking a turbo.

as for a tuned up 306 dt not wooping a 1.4 75 bhp no torque quiksilver, please stop joking mate, not a hope.

u can get a 159 bhp chip for the 1.9 tdi pd 100, let alone the 130 or 150 model, they can produce silly torque and power figures.
