My brother has the same sofa. It's very comfortable. Pretty sure you can get 2 fully stretch out people on it too.

Great choice.

Nic & Taylor if your payments are that low why don't you pay off more a month and reduce the term - save shit loads of money

Imagine that you are similar to me and got gifted equity in your other house? Or similar - or the mrs had something to sell

I was gifted the equited from the father in law.... He bought the house in 2003. He put the house in his partners name to save tax or something, already owned another house.

In 2011 he split up with her and bought the house from her - it was a fiddley way and he gave her £30k or something. His mate is an accountant/broker so sorted the figures so they work.

Myself and the mrs have rented the house from him since and covered the mortgage.

He transfered it into our name last year with some clever figures from his mate

Its a nice street, not many come up for sale but the last one that did - and was the same as ours was £220k a couple years ago. Dont know much about houses but think values went up? Anyway they didnt sell as they got back together

Not really fussed on saving cash, would rather have disposable cash to waste on cars and holidays with the kids

Theyre only young once...

And as my littlest was born in august we knew she would be on maternity, so took a fixed term on a lower payment... Fixed for five years - nursery etc should be done by then so will up it after that if circumstances allow

It doesn't take a genius to realise why your monthly payments are so low compared to mine when you had a 120k deposit to put down haha

That's life, unfortunately. I think our current mortgage is only 20% of our net income, so easily manageable. Upping it to £1200 would take it to around 33%, so still very much manageable.

The problem down here is people have been priced out of the London boroughs, so are moving further out into the commuter belts. Thurrock is 2nd in the UK for house price increases over the last year I believe. Good for sellers, bad for buyers. Unfortunately I'm both, so I benefit in one way and lose out on another.

Either way, I started on the property ladder with a 17k deposit and now it looks like I'll have at least 100k equity in this house. Not a bad investment.
