Havent had to pay for set fitted for ages

Bought a set for the scooby and local area best price i could get was £50 to fit a set of 18's (had 40 in my head) is that the going rate these days?

One place wanted £78 because they were 18" fuck off

one place obviously didnt listen when i said they were brand new
"nah mate we only new tyres"
"no.. i just said they are brand new not second hand"
"oh...well then nah we only fit ones we supply on the shelf not other brands"

i thought as much, used to get them tenner a wheel, but this was 8years ago at mates rates

spose they have cost of valves and balancing aswell to put into that too

anytime iv bought them for the corsa i had a van come out and fit them on the doorstep included in the price

Anything between £10 and £15 per wheel.

One place tried to charge £17.50 each. I told them a few weeks back they charged £15 each and they back tracked

Must be the easiest money ever. No intelligence required for about 5 minutes work.

I usually pay £10 a wheel, but the tyre place is about 2 mins from house so always seeing them.

I think £50 for a set is fair

£12.50 is what I paid for my 19s.

Some places will only fit their own tyres which is understandable.

Is it a bit like taking your own food into a restaurant and asking them to cook it? maybe....

Local kwik fit does it cash in the back pocket sort of affair on a Sunday. About £7.50 a tyre. Other local kwik fit won't fit tyres unless they supply them.

Mates mate does it for £7.50 a tyre too so would rather the money went to him than kwik fit.

More money in tyre fitting than drug dealing.

Is that any tyres Stuart, or just ones you supply? If any, that is very cheap.

The back street type garages seem cheapest here. Cash in hand stuff

My local place always used to be a tenner a corner, after fitting mine Saturday he dropped that its now 15 a corner, bit miffed but work was done.

Is a total rip considering no real cost to him, valves are cheap and the machines aren't much. 60 quid for 15 minutes work is pretty good going cash in hand no receipts

£10 a corner here. Probably could get it cheaper by using the farther in laws mate to get the work done. He's only open Mon - Fri though.

My fronts are coming to end of life, looking at the prices fitted by tyres on the drive and buying the tyres direct and having them fitted, i may as well not leave the house and have them done on the drive or at work.

A good tyre machine isn't cheap, plus running a compressor all day isn't free. You'd be the first to kick off if they scraped your wheels so why would anyone take that chance to make a couple of quid to fit a tyre that they haven't even supplied?
