Curious question about the above topic.
Applies mainly to people to have just got engaged or already married.

Tradition dictates either 3 weeks or,1,2,3 months salary.
Personally, I don't give a crap about traditions hence the poll.
How much have you spent?

Not a willy waving or portfolio contest, by the way

So if you spend circa £2k on an engagement ring, how much would you spend on the wedding ring?

Months wages always makes me laugh. Net or gross then?

Spend what you're comfortable with

I spent enough to get a decent rock, intelligently sourced to maximise what i got. Bought diamond from an import/export place in the US, then got it put on a ring in the jewelers next door.

I ignored all the traditional crap, it is utter bullshit these days.

I bought a Ring which was a decent Diamond, to a spec that I knew she wanted and that wasn't ridiculously priced.

I paid what I thought was reasonable.

Marriage affects (for better and worse) quite a few legal and tax issues, so there are plenty of reasons beyond showing your love etc etc etc

I was given the diamond.

Grans engagement ring had 3 stones in which my mum had, she kept the biggest one and gave me and my brother one each. Spent about £1200 on the ring which had small diamonds in and was platinum.

It's not what you spend. It's the thought and time you put into choosing it. If the first question that comes into her mind is "how much was it?" Then she's probably not the one!

I spent 2.5k and was a waste of money

Got about a week of additional sex then it went back to normal, plus she has got no concept of the high grade dimond I spec'd. Could of stuck a fake one in there told her it was real and she wouldn't of had a clue

Voted but not posting, I know too many people on here that might spill the beans

It's a nice diamond though, took my time and went to look at loads. Went smaller than most would at this budget, but it's a sparkly wee bastard.

Spent just short of a months wages.

Also went out and bought the absolute best quality diamond I could find which ultimately means it was smaller than a shit one.

She isn't really fussed about the quality
