Hunter wellies aren't what they used to be.

Check out the Muck Boot company - much better quality for around the same money.

Longevity - Hunter wellies only stay waterproof for a few months with regular use, when they used to last years.

You can get them for a lot less than a ton, but I don't disagree - it's silly money for a foot condom. I only suggested Muck Boots because Hunters are around that sort of money for a much lower quality product.

Muck Boots offer better value for money - horsey types and those who have a legitimate reason for owning a 4x4 rave about them because they last much longer. Hunter are very much a fashion brand these days rather than purveyors of quality utility footwear. Hunters used to command a high price because they lasted longer than equivalent wellies, but in recent years they've reduced the quality while maintaining their premium price because most people buying them don't wear them often enough to notice the difference.

Probably not worth buying Muck Boots if you go to a festival once a year or just want to own a pair of Hunters because it has Hunter written on it.

To the OP - if you really want to go all out, get her some Le Chameau's - as worn by Kate Middleton.

I've just bought a new pair of Le Chameau's, very impressed with them so far after being let down by Hunters in the past.
Time will tell how good they are and we will see how they stand up to a muddy winter!

Muck boots are a very good bet if you need to use them everyday.

Your missus is the exact target market for Hunter then - bet they've never seen mud in their life; maybe the odd puddle!

People only by hunter because of the name has naff all to do with how good they are!

Le Chameau I've heard good stuff about but until places like office, sole trader, Schuh all your high street company sell them normal people aren't interested!

Out door people how ever will go to there local farm suppliers and get decent ones!
