1) who started it?
2) why is everybody jumping on the bandwagon?
3) would they copy it if it wasn't the in thing?
4) why do so many retards think ALS is cancer?

It's nice that it's raising money for charity, but lots of people seem to be doing it for a laugh more than anything else.

if it raises awareness and money for Motor Neurone Disease then what's the issue?

the cancer confusion is because Macmillan has jumped on board and if you text them the word ICE you donate £3 (i think) to them.

The issue is it's not raising awareness as retards can't even figure out how to Google 'ALS'.

It is Celebs that are the reason for the popularity, most prop give no money to the actual charity but expect their fans to just for them getting wet or cold! At least Charlie Sheen just gave money to the charity!

Wouldn't call him a poor sod, he jumped into ice cold water apparently. Well apparently a diving incident

The cancer thing has actually really fucked me off. They have so many different things, everyone knows about cancer, and a hell of a lot of people raise money for MacMillan and Cancer research UK. They really should of just left this alone and let everyone dedicate their time to something that a lot of people probably hadn't heard of.

Yeah look at those cunts raising awareness for a terrible disease that isn't "popular" but still no less horrific; and by some cunning act they appear to have raised money too

Yes a lot of the morons will just be bandwagoning it, not understanding the point. However, they share their vids and thus more people see talk and debate it.

Yup. What cunts.

But it's not raising awareness is it? People are just doing it because their mates are nominating them on Facebook.

It's proving by just how many video's i've seen where people are doing it for cancer without realising it's for motor neurone disease.

It helps macmillan, which isn't what it's about.

They're already pulling the heart strings of many, they should let other charities be in the limelight for once.

I agree, it is helping more than it was before the challange.
However people doing should donate themselves IMO.

Awareness and donations are two separate things, both are positive. Most people will ask why they are going to pour an ice bucket over their head and if even 20% of them look up ALS then it is an achievement at raising awareness. Considering we are all in this thread debating it is pretty much clarification that they are raising awareness. Yes there will be some dumbass girls who haven't got a clue, but if they do it and share their video then another 5 people with a brain might see it and some may donate.

You're never going to get 100% donation in any charity, some people doing so justifies the entire thing. If it annoys you, close Facebook down and read a book or something.

People in here don't seem to grasp what viral marketing is or how powerful it can be.

This trend absolutely helps in every way possible. It's a brilliant stunt that has become much more successful than I imagine the creator would have expected.
