The steel ring is to do with the fingerprint sensor rather than the button

Maybe its just a sensor and doesnt actually read individual fingerprints?!

I can see thieves in Africa chopping off fingers to rob iphone 5s's

That would make more sense, like the original iPod, both a touch sensor and a home button, but that's all it does as opposed to actually reading fingerprints.

There's very little information in that article other than stating it uses RF and more importantly, there's generally very information around regarding AuthenTec's secure safety features.

Unfortunately i can see it being a gimmick rather than an actual security feature as any reader worth it's weight use multiple sensors to detect temperature, blood vessel flow etc and from what i've read, RF is unable to detect any of those, rather it just create an optical image.

Any webcams for outside new york Apple shop etc?!

I am curious to see a load of knobheads camping outside to get a phone that MAY not even exist.

I heard they are announcing global shut down as they are so rich they cannot be bothered to carry on selling products.

the world will end!!

I think the thing that would impress me most would be massively improved battery life, cant see that happening though with the faster 5S processor and all the transparency pushing the GPU in iOS7, quite frankly I'm suprised it hasn't really impacted battery life at all.

Anyone got a live stream?

Edit - No worries, http://www.gsmarena.com/watch_the_apple_iphone_5s_and_5c_announcement_live_here-news-6762.php?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter (Youtube + UStream available).

CNet one here (going to have commentary i think) - http://new.livestream.com/cnet/apple

Edit 2 - Not sure how legit the above streams will be as there's talk of Apple not offering an official stream

Edit 3 - Blogs -

The Verge - http://live.theverge.com/apple-iphone-5s-liveblog/

Engadget - http://www.engadget.com/2013/09/10/apple-iphone-liveblog-2013/

It's very similar to QNX (Playbook) too.
