Started to drink a lot more lately, and decided to buy a maker.

Now, I know nothing about them, a lot of you do, so post some up!

Looking at them, I have no idea what the differences are, or what you put in them. Just been drinking Nescafe for the last 12 months.

Mainly looking for a reply from Marc here

I (well my mum now I've moved out) have a gaggia classic.

If you are just upgrading from instant I'd just buy some ground and a french press though.

i use a one cup filter, makes great coffee, easy to clean, not expensive and i must of used it twice a day for the last few years now.

This is it.

http://www.anothercoffee.co.uk/products/item110310.aspx

then i buy roasted whole beans from the internet and i have an electric krups burr grinder.

Not drunk instant for ages and won't go back.

Alot of them machines are a rip off imo and you don't need them to make good coffee.

Deffo start from whole beans though, none of that grinded up a year ago and kept on a shelf in some tin foil until you buy it.

If you are recently going from instant, and are new to proper coffee then you probs will be best with a Nespresso machine tbh, who Marc sells for. I've got one and think its the dogs danglies.

What do you drink? espresso, cappucino etc??

Whats your budget, do you want to grind your own beans etc or would you prefer an easy/no mess option.

If you have a decent budget and don't mind cleaning equipment then i'd deffo say get an espresso machine and a grinder to grind your own beans. If you want quick, easy option with no fuss then Nespresso is a great option.

Ignore 3CM. he's so blinkerd its untrue lol.

People with them capsule machine are the blind ones, just buying something because its trendy and they don't know much about coffee (the plant, the bean) not just the hot drink you get when you press a button.

Have got a nespresso at home, and it does make nice espresso. I prefer a whole mug of fresh brewed coffee though

That always annoys me about the machines, made for people who want a tiny cup.

I like as big a mug as possible.

I like whatever the cheapest ASDA coffee is (not smart price), It's what I drink most of the time.

Can't beat a nice cup of freshly ground proper coffee though.

I'm not a big fan of starbucks, well overpriced.

I have a dolce gusto machine, but have a cafetiere and a nespresso milk frother thingy, i do like the machine but do wonder if I should have paid a bit more and gone for the nespresso. Do prefer it all to instant though that's for sure!

Before I get an influx of orders, I don't sell for Nespresso! I work in customer service and don't work on commission or push machine sales! I can't get discount for others.

BUT

We do have a promotion on at the moment where if you buy a machines before end of this month you get 40-60 of free coffee back.

I know plenty about coffee, but I look at what's "fit for purpose" when choosing what machine I buy. You seem very blinkered in that Nespresso is crap, and fresh beans are the best thing in the world.

Depends on the consumer...what they want/need etc.
