This is a man who turned down a 10k offer for a diesel Skoda, don't try and apply logic to it now.

It just dosn't add up does it.

With over 20k thrown at the car, why on earth would you take such a big risk and not go FC.

its irrelevant what car it is. if you bought a car and spent £30k on it, why would you then sell it for £10k when you're not even convinced that you want to get rid? it makes no sense...

i buy mods as and when i have the money to do so. i didnt have the money to insure it FC when it came around.

But i just don't get why you have an agreed value of 10K on the car but are only insured TPFT.

Basically only way you will get a claim is if its stolen.

How much was the difference between TPFT and FC that made you settle for TPFT??

You have spent over 20k on the car, yet you are willing to risk all of that for the sake of maybe a few hundred quid difference between TPFT and FC. It just dosn't make sense.

The only way i can see it making sense is if the mods aren't actually declared, therefor making any claim void if you were FC, thus meaning TPFT would suffice. But then that would just be like paying for a policy just to keep you "legal" on the system.

at the time money was tight and they wanted an extra grand for £10k agreed value FC. just didnt have it at the time. ive never been one for finace or claiming etc. i just like knowing everything is my risk. haven't insured my 64gB iphone 4s, if i drop it or lose it then meh its my fault basically.

Because £10k is a good offer the likes of which you'll not see again.

Mines not insured. I've had my phones insured for years, the one time I come around to claiming for a cracked screen and despite spending hundreds on insurance over the years they wanted an £80 excess and for me to go without my phone for minimum 5 days. Cheaper to get the screen fixed at a repair stall and who can go without a phone for 5 days+ in this day and age?

Next car you get should be a Corsa diesel. Then spend £30k on it and go round telling everyone you wouldn't swap it for a proper car and sell it for £20k.

But don't insure it.

Are you honestly saying that you'd expect to get most of that back???

Every member on here knows for a 100% fact that adding mods to the tune of £30k to skoda diesel road car is a huge waste of money if one of the reasons was that you thought from the start you'd get most of that cash back.

I think your just on the wind up now. What a load of shite this thread has turned into

If you had no intentions of selling the car for the price supposidly offered then why did you create this thread and ask others opinions???

asked opinons on what car to go for and none of them are screaming 'YOU MUST DO IT!' so to speak. im not seeing any car that i'd absolutely love over my current car that i can realistically afford

and no im not saying that at all, as usual people are putting words into my mouth.

it was never a project car to do up and sell on, i done the mods and paid the money for them because i wanted the car for myself, so when people are screaming sell for £10k i see it as annoying because if i wanted £10k I would have just kept the £25k in the bank...

if there was another car that i'd be happier with than the vrs i'd probably sell for 10k, but atm i think i'd be happier keeping it and buying a bike for the summer tbh

Well do that then

I'm guessing you are a fairly young lad but does the fact many older members are telling you 10k is an excellent offer tell you nothing? I sold my Corsa for a fraction of what I paid for the car standard, despite spending well into 5figures on it, the simple fact is mods add very little value unless you can find someone who really wants it. The offer of 10k was such a person.

But if youre so concerned about getting back as much of the 25k as possible why is your insurer covering you for 10 and not 30k (car + mods) ?

no, really not

as i keep saying, i spent the money on the car not to try and profit but because i wanted it like that. i'd only sell if i was to upgrade to something else but so far there's nothing that i personally think would suit me better for the money. the only car i've considered properly is a K1 Leon

what people can't seem to understand is that not everyone is the same. a car is a very personal thing when you're heavily into them and i tend to have more attention to detail than most, its taken me a long time to get my car to how i want it and theres not much out there that i could afford that i'd be happy replacing it with. i posted the thread for ideas and so far the only thing i've considered is the Leon as I said but my main gripe with the fabia is that it's FWD so i'm really not sure if it'd be worth swapping it for another FWD car, which i'd have to start modding all over again to get it to a stage that i'd be happy with it

the same reason why i wouldn't sell my iphone for less than £600 but it's not insured at all. i like to think that i'll never have to claim. i dont like relying on other people.

for an agreed value of £30k you'd be talking a LOT of money to insure every single year.

RWD or 4WD, Petrol, has a rev range, designed to go fast, doesnt need £30k spent on it to be good.
