Well the track day was a wet one with only one dry spell but just as the track was drying out it pissed it down again.

Few pics from the day

Before it dried out I decided to try a bit of off roading at the end of the long straight breaking from 140mph didn't quite work on the very wet slippery track so went onto the grass run off before re joining the circuit again, over some of the bumps we got some decent air time ;-) as a result you'll notice half the splitter and I also lost one L piece off the passenger side kit

Had to call it a day early as the wheel bearing died as well as the alternator, the off also damaged the tank slightly as it now weeps slight from the seam.

Said shagged bearing

Will get a new one ordered and fitted, but in the mean time I will buy/make a set of bigger hub Audi bearing knuckles, and get myself a brand new alternator and tank.

Cheers

Not much happen on the car as I'm really busy with other work but I removed the fuel tank as it was stinking out the workshop. As you can see the top is rusty so glad to be getting a new one.

Well the wheels have turned up, bought myself some compmotive MO5's in a 16" X 8" ET 0 wheels, two of them have been machined to ET 3.5

Span them up on the wheel balancer to check there straight and two came back at 5 grams out, one at 10 grams and the other one 15 grams so all good really, trial fitted a rear wheel just to give me an idea of width

I think the rear beam will need to be spaced slightly but I'll do that behind the hubs and not using spacers but until I get the kit fitted I won't know for sure. I will also have to check the scrub radius angle and the akerman angle and see if any alterations need to be made.

Wheels look smart! It may just be the camera angle but they look like they will protrude from the arch massively!
What's the plan for making them fit? I see you mentioned spacers, but that confused me slightly

Cheers, I've bought a full wide arch kit so these are to fill that out

Been teaching myself how to use the milling machine at work, started out milling the edges of the calibra hubs, I bought some second hand ones years back but when they arrived they didn't match, one had cut outs and the other didn't so I milled these out so that the weight was roughly the same

After that it was over to the lathe to turn down the flanges to suit the Corsa knuckles

Calibra hubs:

Conversion hubs:

Calibra hub:

Conversion hub:

So span them up in the lathe and turned them down to suit

All done, also faced off the fronts so that the disc offset is the same as the conversion ones

Need to now order some genuine Audi bearings and then look at machining the knuckles to suit.

New tank and GM bearing turned up

So got everything fitted inside and gave it a blast of stone chip

Fuel tank all fitted and plumbed in and leak free.

Standard Corsa bearing size for my reference

Fitted myself a volt gauge so can easily keep an eye on the battery/alternator in future

Also got myself a recently refurbished alternator off Craig.S cheers mate, slightly different but with a bit of spacing got it fitted and working.

Just need to remove the turbo to exhaust manifold gasket, and re fit hub etc, re track and it's ready for it's next track day on the 14th of March @ Abingdon.

Only a small update, not touched the car for a while but have Oulton park booked for the 20th of May so need to make a start on getting it ready.

Sprayed up and re fitted a rear spat and also fitted the missing half of the splitter after losing them on my little off at Bedford.

Changed the oil and filter, I've gone for the gulf competition oil this time as it's about £40 cheaper than the Motul 300v but has very similar reviews

Re tracked it all again as well, just need to remove the manifold to turbo gasket as it's blown through so gonna leave it off as it's quite common to go there.

Serious wheels. Flat spokes are so much nicer than the rounded ones!
