So new seals, bleed nipples and pistons arrived today for the rebuild. Tremendous service from brake parts.co.uk.

Here's a sneaky peak:

Love this mate, its all been properly, good to see. You thought about a wheel change, I reckon some staggered LM's with a red centre would like great.

Thanks Chris

I have thought about wheel changes, tbh I adore the standard motorsports and their polished finish. It doesnt really come out in the photographs but they look amazing in the flesh.

If I did change (would need new suspension etc, so wont be for ages if I did) but LM's and BBS 133's (i think thats what they are called) would be the choice!

Hopefully get a caliper done on Saturday!

Did some more wire wheeling today, one caliper stripped. Steam cleaned it and going to paint but noticed as I was during there's a bit of lumpy peeling paint I couldn't get to with the wheel, so will scratch that off before I paint it. Getting exciting now as they will be ready when I get back off holiday!!

Been away for a while so not much has happened.

Painted a caliper but not taken pics yet, need to start on the other one. I never seem to get much time but looking back, wish I just got a BBK and was done with it. This might be cheaper but it's taking as long as my headlights!

Speaking of which, my original Bosch units have gone green, steamed up and one decided that wiring was too much effort so seperated the main beam wire. This mean removing and re soldering it all up. During constant renal and refitting it sees the alignment was off and go flashed a few times. I gotmfedmup with them letting the car down.

The Xenons won't be ready till next month as brakes are the priority. So I did a bit more and removedmthenstandardmhalogen projectors and instead of binning them I retrofitted them in xenon build v1.1 with the angel eyes etc.

Decided the clear glass makes the front end 20years newer and light output will be marginally increased. I also got these from Halfords on trade sp they where a bit cheaper, decided to try them out.

Apologies for crap pix. All iphone5 and for some reason it just would not focus on the bulbs rather cool coating

Here is a close up of the old units glass:

It looks 10x worse in the flesh. It's actually a yellows green hue and so much pitting and chipping

So cracked out the old v1.1's and renamed them 1.3 for sake of my sanity and anyone reading this thread to get confused lol.

Ok before:

And after:

Also, I managed to fix my gear display issue finally. Completely by accident.

I was attempting to find a fuse for the roof as it has stopped working and noticed a fuse was out. I replaced this with a shiny new one. Then followed the diagram back and saw it was one for the instrument cluster

The first thing I did was check fuses and they where fine. So I'm wondering if I miss counted on the block of fuses and overlooked it?! Either way I feel pretty stupid now. It works fine!

If you want to go down that route with the headlights, I can't help but think you need something like this http://cl.ly/0b2K3k3q051h for the indicators not to stand out as much.
Does look a bit weird that the indicators and headlights don't match.

Other than that, the last picture of the lights really shows off how awesome the colour is and how well it suits the car. Looks a lot younger than it is.

Eww!! Those indiactors look horrid on Alex
Someone laminxed them amber, looked good. But I dont want ambers.

Ill try and find a pic of them fitted.

You might be right though they may look "out of place" as such. Time will tell as it will still use stock housing and colour scheme so shouldnt stand out too much. There is a fall back plan though. Fit the cut lenses inside, and remove the shroud. A bit more "messy" buit will look stock. Ive seen this fitted.

Nah id maybe go shadow chrome. But not black.

Looking at some other builds they all seem to sit further back in the assembly. Hmmm
