Should look lovely inside once they are fitted. Im really starting to see why you have gone for the m3 seats, they look nicer each time i look. If you see another front pair for sale (dont want the full set) let me know as i need some in my 330.

What else is happening in the interior now? It all looks perfect and clean to me, i havnt seen your wheel but a lot of e36 guys are getting them retrimmed and they look ace.

The glove box strip and the SMG base are being painted. The gearknob is being replaced. Not sure if i can work what i want to do but the theory is there!

Steering wheel will be retrimmed but i need to sort the alarm first as when disconnecting the battery to remove air bag things might go wrong and I dont have the code. So need to take it in somewhere to get seen to.

Other than that, im fixing the stereo and on the lookout for a new rear bench.

Stage 2 is dashboard mount for hardwired iPhone charging so can use as proper sat nav. Plus a re-jig of buttons a new alarm LED and fixing the glovebox sag.

Damien "likes" this.

Still love the old skool bimmers. Remember seeing all these on 3 spokes as they were the cool wheel in the late 90's

Whats the mileage on it? How thirsty are they on juice?

Trial fitted this:

Wanted to make sure it fitted so searched on eBay for a mule to test on. No luck finding an SMG one, but plenty of manual ones. So sought one of those, been watching a while, most where going for £20 but I sneaked this one for £2.49!

So I set about it with my dremmel after eyeing the two parts up.

So saw the first issue of the cigarette lighters illumination is no longer needed plus the pole gets in the way:

This plastic was like butter with the dremmel so was hard to be neat, but I wasn't too fussed as you won't be able to see the hole when fitted due to the bezel.

So here's some progress:

All finished and it is a PERFECT fit. Holds itself in, no movement and perfectly serviceable. So ready to try for real on my SMG one when I get my loom made up

That should reach just over £300 without the doorcards. Ebay is full of black interiors at the moment, £500 should get you a near perfect set but iv paid much less for them at times.

Doubt Jambo would want them though and colin needs more than just the front seats

Small update, been buying up various bits, couple of interior peices in the body shop too

Here's a taste of things to come. My old SMG nob is very tired and looks shabby:

Works fine but wanted something decent, apparently they cost nigh on £100 from BMW and I dont like the finish anyway, so I had a search around and saw Tallis fitted a gear on from an auto from another bm. Was an e46 or 5series IIRC. Was a bit of sawing involved which put me off but I was us I could mod it. Reason being the little stick inside the gear knob is a different length.

You can see in this pic:

So ordered a spare nob off eBay to piss around with and a new one from C3 BMW, was only £50 odd.

Here are the spare and the new one side by side:

So I set about with these tools:

To take them apart.

First place a screwdriver underneath the push button and force it out, its quite solid so shouldn't break. Be wary of marking the soft leather/plastic surround though. That's what I used the cardboard for. Still managed to mark it

At one point you can just pull it out with your fingers and the pole inside should drop out.

The tada it's all apart.

Then do the same with the new one, being as careful as you can be!

Now all you have to do is line the little stick up inside with the button which is the most fiddly part. Will enduce much swearing and wanting to throw across the room but persevere.

Then it will "click"

All done
