so firstly i did a load of tidying and put the interior in the loft

i then did a quick walk-around of how it stood... the song is a coinsedance honest
http://s209.photobucket.com/albums/bb271/corsabadboy/Hillman%20Imp/?action=view&current=VIDEO0024.mp4

then i stripped the bonnet, boot, doors and hatch..
drivers door first

then the boot

then the hatch

then the bonnet

then eventually the passenger door and how the car stands

just now need to store these items before removing the lights and chrome work ect... thats when actual work can start... ohh yea i got an email of the seller of my bonnet/boot saying he does arches and also race doors aswell as fibreglass doors which allow use of the window... i did notice today the standard doors weigh a fucking tonne

any one working on any old-ish car, i cant recomend this more
and at the end of each day

i also just took a photo for the lolz - washer bottle

and opinions on rear lights?

i like the side with both red lenses? the problem being making them flash orange

Good work so far mate! I quite like to two red lenses too. Have you thought about using LandRover clear lenses? Not the pointy ones, but the newer flatter ones?

Few on retro rides are using clear but i think it looks chavvy on an imp...

Ahh, fair enough. Never seen one with clear lights to be honest, but in retrospect, I can imagine it may look a bit chavtastic. Keep the updates coming

Red lens side looks far better. And yea I believe the green bulb trick does work, all the ones who have tinted there Corsa lights all red on here use green bulbs.

Got a bit more done tonight. bit stressed from work so fancied hammering over stripping so decided to remove a bit sound deadening..

how it started

what i was dealing with

and how it ended up

that was 20-30 mins work while i had a chance, tomorrow night i will probably chip the rest away then on friday i will get the tar off if all goes well

whilst i was on i found this hole which tbh im not worried at all about

i did mention i aquired a cheap wheel and here it is... unsure on it tbh and i need a boss... see what direction the project leads me (im just on paint now making a few interior/engine designs

any way the wheel

keep an eye out i will post the pics of my ideas and some sample pics the fibreglass man sent me to mull over

right just uploaded the pics fibreglass man sent me..

some rivet and smooth arches (not keen i dont want body colour)

some bond on jobbies (love these fucking lot mind)

some doors which retain the origional glass ect (not keen the glass is fucking heavy)

some proper jobbies with poly carbs... (i like the idea but have asked if these can be made to the same standard as the others)

he also does these but obviously ive just bought a bonnet so its a lost cause

im seriously impressed with the pics but time will tell, my parts should be here next week to test fit... he hasnt of yet supplied a price but i asked for one for:

bond on arches
race doors
back panel

he is also in the process of making front wings and front panel but these are a way off yet

what do you lot think?

so heres my idea...

imps have serious cooling problems so im thinking something like so (this is if its turbo'd)

basicly a intercooler and radiator thats mounted in the cabin on the cage away from the hot engine bay. they will be cooled via vents in windows and also have switchable fans on the rear screen

dont know if this is a good idea/will it work?

should say the filter will be fed via some sort of air feed in the bay as will a possible oil cooler

I would do a front mount radiator conversion, its tried and tested and won't put so much strain on the electrics having 2 big fans on all the time.

if you feed them right, and have a large enough exit air ability, then i dont see why you’d need the fans on all the time, would require decent sized inlets on the side windows i reckon but very do able, all the european rallycross boys have rear rads, have a look for some of their setups

been looking into it a bit more...

front mount rad is a way better idea... i can also use the in car feeds from the redundant heater matrix to run the pipes

although my plan would look uber uber cool i feel this is a better option with window feeds for an oil cooler/air intake

How about an air-water charge cooler? Then run a rad at the front , would keep the boost pipe work to a minimum.
