boom another update

the front end is totally stripped now and the rear not far off..
still to remove is:
some more of the wiring harness
various small brackets and trims
windows
rear panel and bumper
rear lamps

this will leave the shell in a bare state with only the the axles and mechanicals left in.. these however i will be getting a bit help removing due to my inexperiance/not wanting to fuck anything

anyway some pics and as always a slight time line:

so first i stripped the front end

my pile of bits

found a place for my reg

had a friendly visitor

opened and tried the bonnet and boot before storing them

as you can see the bonnet fits very well, however the boot doesnt
this isnt due to the boot itself but the driver side hinge...

how the bad one looks

its supposed to be like this

ohhhh and who can see where my intercooler could fit with a little cutting lol

not a huge update but some new bits... unsure what to do with most like

new fuel cap/filler neck... plan is to have this in the scuttle panel so i dont have to open the bonnet to fill up

aquired a lot of freebies

sorted out they are:

a small compressor

various attachments (its probs not powerful enough for some of them)

listen to the beast in action
http://s209.photobucket.com/albums/bb271/corsabadboy/Hillman%20Imp/?action=view&current=VIDEO0025.mp4

i also got an intercooler and loads of boost pipes of an mr2 (most is useless to me so will go on ebay, dont think turbo will even happen, fancy a differant route, more on that later)

made a lying down mat too

and was given a cool fluid draining jug

and finally borrowed this

with the heat gun i went from this

to this

to this

stripped some more of the car, windows, harness, bits and bobs

broke my moleys

a mate came round and we had a small measure up, roughly... this it a rough rough plan of the cage

the engine will come out after the cage is welded in, the doors will be re-fitted while we make it also... hoping a cage will brace the body up nicely for when the sills ect come off (thats not the final plan btw, just working out how much steel we need)

bit bad news aswell, was planning to rub the car down by hand but after this turned up im feeling blasting will be benifitial

ohhh another visitor

so to sum it up:

stripped some more
waiting for pipe and my mate to make cage (after my hols)
the car will then be finished stripping and blasted i think (pennies allowing)

cheers everyone, nah not staying jewish racing gold its horrid, maybe a biege/gold like my golf was would look ok though

waters a cage is deffo needed in that

bit of an up date, just got back from hol at the weekend and had a chat with my mate and he tells me it will be 4-5 weeks before he can make the cage as hes having to work loads of hours at the min.. bit of shitter as i want the cge in before removing the engine, gear box, axles, quarter, sills, wings and front panel - mainly due to wanting the cage to act as a brace whilst its blasted

had a short mess about yesterday and drained the brakes and removed the pedal box along with the brake and clutch master cylenders. these are fucked so a new seal kit is ordered.. plan is to remove the front axle and suspension and strip it down to be coated - this i hope will keep me busy till hes ready and it will simply bolt back on for making the cage
