I've got a 1st generation Sky HD box which is a bit slow and crappy now. I've re-built the power supply however, so it's nice and reliable.

Sky sent me a letter saying I can have a brand new box for free, but as this is Sky we're talking about it must be some kind of scam. Has anyone else had one of these offers before? Do they make you buy extra packages or anything?

The bonus of getting a new box is I can then have Anytime+ which looks quite fun.

As long as you have sky broadband the offer is legit as far as I know.

Knew about the internet thing - use them anyway Thought it would be another 12 month contract, but was wondering if they'd get me to subscribe to HD also.

If they are tieing you into a new 12 month contract then I would be wanting more than a new box. Just look at the offers for new customers.

If they don't offer anything ask to be put through to disconnections and they will probably offer you more. If they don't cancel. and then sign up again using a different bank account getting the great offers new users get

I'm already on the £19.99 a month see speak surf thing, but I pay an extra fiver for unlimited internet. I don't see them dropping the price anymore than that?

But also, it's totally free and doesn't require a new contract. I think they just assume that they will get their money back with the new services the box is compatible with, or maybe they're being nice seeing as I've been a customer with that box since 2007 (highly doubt it though).
