Stick your phone on airplane mode before you go to sleep and you will/should wake up with the same amount as to how you left it, and im certain it charges the phone quicker when airplane mode is on as well.

I took mines off charge last night at 92% which was before 10pm and i woke up at around 4-5am and it was still at 92%.

Obviously because youre blocking the signal you wont get any calls / texts but if you still need it for your alarm clock then it saves turning it off and it saves leaving your phone on charge all night when youre down at 10% because that 10% wont last with your reception on but it will with airplane mode on.

Try it.

Flight mode turns off the radios in the phone, that's it. It'll obviously use less power and charge faster if most of the phone is switched off.

Over the 7 days i sent at most 8 text messages, used the flick fishing game for about 50 minutes and made no phone calls.

On a usual charge it'll last about 2 days.

Would it not be easier just to plug it in overnight?

whats the got to do with saving battery? putting it on silent has nothing to do with blocking the reception when youre sleeping

If you plug it in then its going to be charged up so you will end up with more battery power than you had when you went to sleep. Even better than what you are suggesting.

And turning it on silent was because presumably you don't want to hear any messages or phone calls whilst asleep.
