I was actually a bit disappointed by Heidfeld. Maybe I was expecting too much.
He only made up any places in the last few laps when everyone was on the hard tyres - thought he would have cut through the field much quicker than he did.

hamilton is definitely driver of the day in my eyes.

button did fantastic but messed the start up big time.

i thought heidfield would've done better, got too held up on the first few laps.

One of the top drivers, Hamilton for example should do qualifying on 1 set of hard tyres, get as high a position as possible on them and then they've got all fresh boots for the race. Would be interesting to see how it panned out. Look at Webber when he started waaay back and he finished in third a few seconds of Vettel!

Too much of a risk. Thats what Schumacher tried to do and still barely finished above his teammate.

Kerry - Heidfeld was 8th.

what the fuck are mclaren playing out?

once again they've left it too late in Q3 for hamilton to do a run and a crash has messed their stategy right up.

gutted because hamilton was fastest in Q1 and 2 so now us as fans have lost the opportunity to see some great racing tomorrow.

cunts.

they done it last year, i can remember it. exactly the same happened.

now he's compromised massively for the race and being monaco, it's ot going to be easy to pass anyone, let alone, alonso, schumacher, webber and button

Shame, but I can see what they were trying to do. If he'd pulled it off he'd be a set of tyres up on Button (again).

i see your point but why take risks when he was the fastest guy out on the track?

now he's 9th on a track which is notoriously difficult to overtake on and basically has to fight his way through risking damage to his car (we all know what the first corner is like) just to get back to where he should've been.

you don't see red bull taking silly risks.

definitely won't be on the podium tomorrow, as already mentioned - such a shame after being fastest in Q1 and Q2

edit; fucking LOL - anyone see the build up? van burnt out on the racing line in the first or second turn

edit2: perez crash, ouch!

but they were beating them in Q1 and Q2 anyway. hamilton would've been in the top 2 in Q3 if they hadn't messed about.

Will he be able to start on hard tyres though (as not setting a quali time)?
If so, he can stay out longer than the 8 ahead with less tyre wear, and pick up places that way.

Starting 9th maybe better than 7th if that is allowed, though he would need to pass Maldonado for that to work.

If that quali time has been taken away he should get free tyre choice in theory. I think.

Its catch 22 for him

Use the super soft and try and get through the grid quickly at the start when everyone is bunched up
or
Use the soft while everyone is bunched up and you can't put your fast laps in due to all the dity air so that you can put the super softs on when everyone else is struggling in clear air on softs
