http://www.engadget.com/2012/12/14/french-reporters-infiltrate-zhengzhou-foxconn-iphone-5-factory/

People literally die to make these, all the while Apple have about 100 billion sitting in the bank. What a company. There is no chance in hell Apple don't know this is going on btw before anyone says it.

Same as many other companies like Samsung, HTc which also use Foxconn factories many which are of an even lower standard......but that wouldn't make a juicy story

Correct, the markup on an iPhone is almost second to none, they could afford to pay the workers more, imagine how much extra the workers would get paid if they used 1/1000 of money in the bank

you could say the same about many companies over here who pay minimum wage. foxconn probably pay above average over there. its not up to apple to single handedly drag the country forward economically thats the governments job.
and people havent died making the iPhone, they died through overloading plugs in their accomodation.

this isnt fanboyism, more ant-fanboyism

I know, I don't expect them to give away their money really.

It is completely up to Apple to worry about how foxcon workers are treated though.

Apple the company who are (were anyway, probably not since Jobs died) anal about the colour of the machines in their factories, should worry about the conditions of the workers building their products.

theres stories from the other side of the fence that paint a very different picture though, and they do actively get involved to ensure theyre working conditions are good.
have you read the whole articel? 1.4 million employees, it would be damn hard to make sure theres no corruption or dodgy shit going on within the lower levels.
and, anyway why should they care? theyre simply buying a product from another company, when i then buy a laptop or phone from the apple shop im not making sure each employee is perfectly happy and content. besides without their money there would be a shit load of people in worse condition or simply unemployed.

Do not disturb still allows notifications to come through but they just don't alert you (not sure if the screen still lights up?).

Does it allow you to set an 'allowed' list on iOS like Android, so that certian peoples notifications still alert you?

Cool.

There's a lot of noise on Twitter at the moment about the closed-ness of iOS and long term Apple users moving to Android. People are getting bored.

Pod2G got #wewantanopeniOS trending in a matter of hours.

Unless iOS 7 is a full refresh and the 5S is massively innovative I can see them loosing a lot more customers to android devices.

Nerds want an open os and innovative features from a phone, the majority of people just want to check Facebook, play the latest game and take photos.
