The Distance Selling Regulations states he's covered by law for 30 days. Not sure if thats for businesses or individuals. Doubt he's even heard of the law tbh.
I'll give that fraud line a tinkle and see what they suggest. If they advise on prosecuting, I'll put together a list of items, figures and names to hand to them, along with his details. Then it's the waiting game.
Police will either give a toss or not - still get the feeling they don't take e-crime seriously in this country.

UPDATE!
Just received a text from him, and he says he has no Internet access, so could not update everyone of the situation and get people's addresses. He says everything is bubble wrapped up and ready to go, and even offered to send a picture message of the stuff wrapped up and should be going this afternoon, courier pending.

No, he's saying he hasn't got anyone's addresses - I'm assuming he asked for everyone's address via a U2U? No internet - no addresses.
He says he's going to use a fiends PC to get online and update us.

up to you ste if you want to contact them  id say contact them just incase then if the guy sorts our bits you could phone up and let them know its been sorted ..

I dont get why his address cant be handed out, corsatdi if it was the other way about and it was your money he had, you would want his address, the only way you couldnt give it out is if you were 1. working at the time of collecting or 2. used you work ie police to find his address, even still if hes genuinly ripping people off he doesnt deserve to remain annonymous
