Got involved a bit today after a few complaints.
I've had to remove a few posts and reply to others because collectively, there are a few people with some fairly unreasonable points of view.
At no time am I ever going to stifle debate. That news article about the Iraqi guy killing the girl disgusts me as much as the next man. And I consider it a failing of the British judicial system that his penalty was not more harsh, or that his crimes are effectively overlooked because of him having had a child here.
However, I do not entertain what, from a number of members, is blatantly unsubstantiated racism.
And before anyone wants to jump to the defence of free speech, justify this. I've removed the username.

I couldn't give a fuck what games he's playing, it's not acceptable. To me, to a great many other members, and to any other reasonable person.
It was also deleted within a minute of it being posted, upshot of which being that only a small number of people read it, one of who was me, who gets to spend time deleting it and posting this to try and draw attention to how unacceptable it is. Obviously worth my time.

And I do appreciate the issue of double standards. Being a white, able-bodied heterosexual male it's actually really fucking difficult to offend me but not everyone is in that position and if I get complaints, I do want to act upon them.
If any other ethnic group has any issue with anything else they read, usual rules apply.
Crucially, don't waste my time being edgy and internet when in fact all that happens is I get some more work to deal with.

I agree with what you're saying Ian, its not acceptable at all. I've only browsed the thread though.
I am, however, sick and tired of reading stories like this where the guilty party is of Eastern origin. I'm forever reading stories in the paper and 'guessing' what ethnicity the people are, like that story about the suicide bomber from Luton... as soon as I read the headline I knew he'd be Asian.

Racism threads normally bring people out of hiding, people who were borderline slight bit of intelligence/chump show their true colours when they can't even think up some decent racist slurs and go for the usual 'dirty xxx'.

One of my ex colleagues is a devout Muslim and one of the most educated and intelligent people i know. Hes also white and married to an Iranian girl.
His nickname is shoebomber and he loves the banter as is all friendly etc

That's what I was trying to get at. Being a website with many users I suppose there are gonna be people offended, oh well. Don't think I've said nothing racist on here. Racism is boring though, every few weeks you hear about racism. It's a constant bore.
