Just picked up on this technique recently, im not that interested in using the artistic side of it too much although some of them look nice, im more interested of capturing situations that have extremes of lighting where getting one detail would mean either flaring out one part or under exposing other parts.

Heres an example i setup to try out, i was stood in a darkly lit room with a light source being the doorway into the living room, i wish to capture the detail in the living room as well as the dimly lit room i was in.

Problem, under exposing the image to get the living room details means the kitchen appears to dark, over exposing to reveal the kitchen details means the living room flares out and becomes too bright, thats where HDR comes in.

3 images all taken at different exposures, i have put them on the bottom of the image to show you what values they were. The naked eye is pretty much how ev 0 looked.

HDR merges them and takes the best details from each.

I will add more examples and experiments as and when.

2nd example basically a reverse idea of the first, a bright room, with a dark detail outside, the plant pot and tree, again the exposure values and examples underneath, ev 0 being close to naked eye

Not sure about tonight's Steve, they mostly look over exposed?

Can you tweak the curves or something?

Steve, do you shoot in raw?

Good work by the way. Most of the hdr's are executed very well and not over the top.
