Yeah lol thats sorta why i want to change a few things to make it look a different car, think i'll sell the irmy's if im honest. GSI's are an option, but would have to get the replica's as original ones wouldn't fit due to the rear doors :/

I think if you do go with the rep's dan you be fine as you just have to cut the rear arch to fit

You don't have to cut anything for the reps. That's the point in buying reps

Cursed Car?

As some of you know i had an MOT booked in for today, i got up early and started the usual checks and all seems good cars running sweet, al lights work etc. Left the car running for 10 mins or so to warm it up and then set off down the road no more than 200 yards into my journey i noticed the oil pressure guage starting to drop slowly, i turn the car around and drive back home once parked up on my drive i have a quick glance over at the guage, its down to less than 10psi and the engine is sounding a bit tappy, oil light starts to flicker so i immediatly turn it off... Fuck.

check for leaks, couldn't see anything major, coulple of small drips from somewhere but oil level is ok.
So i've cancelled my MOT and i think its safe to say i've a problem with the oil pump, i'm also assuming it would have done some damage to the internals..

Sump off, check the oil pickup, maybe pop a conrod cap off to check the shell bearings for damage.

then if pickup is clear check relieve valve and finally if everything else is fine, pull the pump completely off to check internals of that.

Cheers for your reply

What should i be looking for on the bearings? scored marks & signs of heat?
Relief valve has been replaced with an sbd nylon jobby so that would be ok, old metal one was as clean as anything and wasn't stuck when it was replaced.

Cheers buddy, yeah it's getting there

Righto just gave it a quick turn over now it's cooled down and the gauge is showing 25 psi on idle with no oil pressure light, no Taps or knocks either.. worn pump rather than blockage?

4doors are only good when they've got a good engine in, I love yours. How long did it take to underseal it? Will be doing mine in the next week or so.

Alex what's the worst case scenario if it was a new non genuine?

Thanks Dan, it didn't take me long, I stripped the underside and undersealed it in a day
