It makes perfect sense to me, if he wanted the ride as low as it is with standard turret locations he might only have had, for example, 5-10mm of travel with the height wound right down which would mean a much stiffer ride and even the slightest bump would mean it bottoming out. By raising the turrets he now only maybe needs to wind them down about half way which has got to mean much better damping and I can only assume better handling.

Yes but going further means the lower control arms become inverted which lowers the roll centre and increases the distance between that and the centre of gravity. Unless he's modified the rack it will also be more susceptible to bump steer.
I agree with all the comments regarding how the work is done properly, of course they would do that, I just think there are some compromises in place to obtain the look.

There's no way, unless they dropped the body of the car, that they could acheive anything other than a highly compromised suspension setup.
Regardless of the quality of the work, as Ian says, the suspension geometry will be far from perfect.

it's no different in principle to cutting the bulkhead to fit a v6 into a corsa b is it? making modifications to make the end result work better
straightening out the lower arms is good thinking, would be undrivable otherwise

I wasn't actually taking the piss as such, more just posting it in a semi relevant thread rather than starting my own. In a lot of ways it's impressive, but at the same time I've never been into modifying to that sort of extent to appreciate it!
Whats depressing in a lot of ways is that Stanton is a year younger than me yet driving a car that powerful - regardless of how it looks

You're missing the point, a lot of stuff Stanton has done has been copied, he did it because he liked it, others liked it and did the same, thus, he is a pioneer. Afaik, being a pioneer simply means doing something first.
