Wouldnt mind one of these as my next car.

What sort of price can you pick up a good used one for these days ? Anything to look out for ?

Power is 240bhp , but how is the power delivered ? Aggressive etc?

Cheers

They're bottoming out at around £10k at the moment. Start on a 06 plate, with a major update to the interior on the 08 plates.

I'd say the delivery was fairly progressive, but haven't driven many other hot hatches to compare to be fair.

Check out vxronline for sale section - theres quite a few available all over the country at the moment so you can get a feel for prices.

I wouldnt say agressive tbh, especially with your previous cars.

I found the brakes all or nothing. Have to really stamp but when you do they stop very well!

Nice car mate. Big improvement on the gsi i think.

The power of my cupra is pretty aggressive. Kicks in hard and fast. I like it but it kinda gets annoying if your going your average drive and dont want to hoon it around !

Ill have a look , love them in red.

Not too aggresive, depends. On track the standard map is a bit hardcore out of corners but everyday driving you wouldn't notice it.

Nice one ollie cheers. Big problem with the cupra at present (and I know I cant keep comparing) is the amount of sensors on the engine and the trouble to find faults with them.

Have you had any similair issues ?

Smooth, comfortable ride, and the interior is very nice for a vauxhall! Definately look better with the 19's on.
I've tried requesting them for work but got told no, the 1.5d astras we have are fine!

Yeah, but piano black makes a world of difference.

I still think the interior is pretty bland for its class, but with the piano black looks a bit better. Can be fitted into the pre-08s anyway.

The indicators in the Astra would fuck me off after a while

I like them alot, only thing that put me off is how common they are but other than that I'd definetly have one. I'd still have one mind you, they've come down loads in price. I just found it really hard to get one with the right spec, alot seem pretty bare of options

The indicators are fine once you're used to them. Especially the three blink overtaking thing...

Took me a bit of getting used to! Still get annoyed with them occasionally when I think I've pressed them hard enough, but they go off after 3 flashes!

Don't get me wrong i used to love the 3 flashy thing on my Fabby VRS but i just couldn't get used to the Astra ones it only takes one thing like that to put me off a car.

Astra indicators are fine, I get annoyed at the amount of movement in normal indicators now.

What year was your fabia? mine didn't have 3 flash indicators.

Yeah fair enough, all I wanted was AFL, Cruise Control & the 19 inch wheels, but could I find one? No way

Cruise is a 30 quid stalk and tech 2, AFL can be fitted (a few hundred quid at least though), and 19's can be bought obviously.

The spec is a bit crap, the VXR's should have had xenons standard.

I accept that but considering a VXR with standard spec was about a grand more than an MPS with almost every option as standard it put me off a bit.

The top spec kit for sale on VXRonline is £550 I think it was but it's still not the proper kit and if I'm buying an expensive car like that IMO it should come with a simple thing like Xenons as standard.

It's the non AFL's that get sold on vxronline, I nearly went for it for mine but then decided I couldn't justify it on lights.

Agree it should come as standard though.

Yeah exactly, I had in mind that if I got the VXR cheap enough spending £500 wouldn't be so bad, but they don't go for any more money with AFL, it's just a case of waiting for one to come up
