... is much better than XP and Vista - fact.

Loving the Aero peek thing on the taskbar, great for the million and one apps I have open on a daily basis!

Aye, i did Vista but i thought it was absolute bollocks and slow as hell and ended up going to XP64. Recently changed to 7 x64 and i'm generally impressed - would say performance is just as good as XP and so far, i haven't had too many problems (apart from activation, although you need to activate prior to installing updates etc).

LukeS - Borrowing it on a very long term basis

Installed 7 Pro in a VM the other day... (MSDN is useful for something)

I hate it, its gash...

This new interface is just a rip of KDE3, which in itself was fucking dire...
It's just as annoying and as gay as Vista...

And what was all this bollocks in the news about them not installing IE by default, and giving users a choice?? Nice to see they lied about that one too and bunged IE in there by default as per fucking usual...

I'll stick with XP running inside a VM thanks, bollocks am I running this tripe for any elongated period of time...

It's not exactly hard to open up IE once and download chrome/firefox/opera/whatever the fuck you'd prefer. Then never use IE again.

Probably the non EU version you lot have used.

The 'upgrade' (which is technically a FULL version because for some reason Microsoft aren't selling 'upgrades' in the EU, to do with the EU vs Microsoft suit I guess) is quite cheap for a Microsoft OS, however this is going to be a limited price and will go up next year IIRC.

Microsoft ditched the whole 'E' version anyway.
You can use IE to download a different browser, and then unlike previous versions of Windows, you can uninstall it properly.

Gunna get me a copy for my Mini 9 on student discount. My sister is running it on a 3 year old £400 acer laptop (the RC), runs like a dream, quicker than Vista EVER did, Kirsty has the RC on her laptop and it makes far better use of the screen space. I have the RC on my Mini 9 but I only have an 8GB SSD at the moment and I actually ran out of space!

How would a general user be able to get hold of firefox or chrome without a browser installed in the first place? That would of been a bit of an irish move by microsoft if it actually happened.

Apparently Notepad (or Wordpad) has built in browser functionality?

And you would have the Chrome or Firefox exe stored on a USB stick otherwise

When you try go on the Internet, there's an option to choose from a series of browsers, or choose to install your own
