Right.

X10XE, no EML. Every time I grind to a halt in traffic, dip the clutch, the revs drop, the idle goes all lumpy and it nearly stalls. Every now and then the alternator/battery light comes on as if it is going to stall.

The only thing I can put it down to is the ICV! No other symptoms, doesn't heat up so not a blocked coolant pipe or anything.

Just want to know/some advice/anyone with the same symptoms & solution before I spend £44 on a new ICV that won't work?! Also, it seems to do it more when it's raining and damp so could be an air lock?! No idea though!

Might try that, see if it works then if it doesn't poke up with it till my annual service in October and get the breather pipes checked.

The ICV on yours is a sealed unit, so you can't clean it, but I'd try cleaning the throttle body out first, mine starts dropping revs every so often, just clean the body out a bit with carb/brake cleaner and a cloth and it's fine after

Well I've just replaced the ICV with a new Bosch one from AutoVaux and it doesn't seem to have worked.

Will have to wait until it's dark and raining as that's when it seems to do it the most

I should have tried cleaning the throttle body whilst I was there

I know.

Why would the software update work if it has 'suddenly' just started happening?

Under the plastic bit circled in green is the throttle body isn't it?!

Finally sorted I replaced the ICV which made no difference what so ever.

Cleaned the throttle body and breather pipes today. You should have seen the mayo that came out of the breather pipes runs a lot lot better now.

Glad I didn't try the software update before cleaning it.
