The ICV is attached to the side of the throttle body. On the left down the side of the inlet manifold. Unless you are running an aftermarket manifold.

It will have a 4 wire plug going into it.

I've got a spare you can have for £15 posted if you want to try another one, or try cleaning your one.

I will give it a try I was under the impression talking to someone a few weeks back that you could adjust it to change the revs on the car

No, these are electronically controlled on these cars. Some older cars had an idle adjustment screw.

The ICV's on these engines are well known to get blocked up with carbony shite, give it a good clean!

well, I had one on my 15,000 miles one and it looked quite clean, I then got a 50k Gsi engine and that one was well chatty!

Use some WD40, carb cleaner or something similar, be gentle with it, just remove all the gunk!

Thorough clean with carb cleaner. Then lightly oil with some 3-1 oil or a few drops of engine oil.

Vauxhall or anyone for that matter will never clean things like the ICV out during a service! You can try spraying a load of carb cleaner into your inlet. Or using the redex, its great fun if nothing else when you put it down your spark plug holes! Smoke machine!

It says about putting redex down your plug holes on the side of the bottle!

No risk of damage!

remember when replacing the ICV if it is extended beyond IIRC 26 mm (or 30 for the GSi) you will have to push it back until it stops to prevent damage when refitting
