Admiral = £450, commuting, dad & Lily, £300 total excess. 1 claim & mods.

Pretty much happy with that, especially as I had £550 saved for it. £100 to spend on myself now

no more modifying for me. It's uncomfortable enough as it is on the 20 mile run to work.

More like £100 towards Rich Refined Detail getting the colour back to normal.

I find it random that they want to know exactly what your job is. I work in office, who cares what I do inside of it, I'm not exactly going to be driving round the building

Alloys. Makes no difference on Admiral.

Yes I think it's expensive, but I can't get it any cheaper. Simple as that. Baring in mind I'm 21 with only 2 NCB and 1 claim. Some people my age have 5 NCB (from mopeds at 16) and 0 claims, then I'd be wanting insurance a bit cheaper!

As a mechanic aren't you covered to drive any car by your garage's insurance?

For work yes.

You can't use it as personal cover

Hints towards cheaper insurance.

Estimated mileage - low as possible, If you think you might do 8k stick down 4k, its an estimate

Additional drivers - Put down mum or granny, even though they havnt drove in the last 10 years they have a clean license and will knock £100 off the price.

Where is the car kept over night - Does the house have a garage? If so then thats where its getting parked!!

Do you drive other cars - always yes. I honestly have no idea what they mean by this or what difference it makes!!

Value of vehicle, £250 - if its knicked they will pay out whatever they feel like at the time regardless of what you stick in the box.

Take TPFT cover - its not worth having FC.

Simples!!

Good tips, but I tried insuring my Audi A3 TPFT and it was £150 cheaper if I went FC with legal cover thrown in.

That's something I've noticed a few times recently, fully comp is sometimes cheaper, just shows what thieving shithouses they are when they won't let you have it cheaper even if they don't have to fix your car

W reg I'll have you know

I need FC because I'm looking at changing my car in spring.

We have a garage, except half of it is a gym, so not sure that would work

I can't get it any cheaper. Must be a me thing.

That doesn't work with all companies I don't think. I had two year's no claims from bike insurance, but not everyone lets you carry it over

Yeah, like an at fault claim

Tbf, I wouldn't want to pay that much for a 12v, but if £450 or whatever it was is the best he can find, then sometimes you just have to go with it. I could have been insured £200 cheaper this year with Churchill, but they don't allow mods until you're 25 or something.
