Video playback wouldn't be the best on an E71, stuff i've tried has been ok but I admit i've never used it for that, screen isn't really big enough either.

Web browsing isn't too bad, could do with higher res but then most people wouldn't be able to read it.

Without question.
IMO it would be daft to buy the old Iphone when the new one is about to Launch.
If you dont have one then buy the new one just to say you have one lol

If you own a 3G no the 3GS looks the same as the 3G and with the 3.0 software you will get most of the new features. If you have a 2G maybe its worth it, but with a 3G no IMO.

That's the only reason they sell so much.

and imo, that's the reason i don't really want one as much as i once did when I got my original 2G one.

Back when I had the 2G one, not many people had them - and it was 'rare' - now EVERYONE has them... the amount of people I've seen on facebook add the 'Facebook for iphone application' ...

I think I'm going to hold fire and see what happens with the upset of o2 and upgrades etc... If O2 don't shift many after a month (existing customers holding onto their 3g, and new customers being non existent, as they were the 3g customers) then prices may change and I may get it cheaper.

I'm gutted about needing a mac to develop apps for it, I was hoping to make some apps and sell them

They were even more crap when they were rare though, they do most of the things other phones do now.

Excellent marketing from apple.

Cant rate my HTC Magic high enough to be fair, fantastic phone which does everything (and so much more) i need it to.
The apps are great and the UI so easy to navigate and use

Im sure there will soon be a new android phone to better it but i think id agree with the reviews/press etc.. that its the best phone out at present

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/390020/htc-magic-new-google-android-phone-/

Can't complain at that price, mind, if you're about to renew you could probably get it for £20 / month.

For business users who travels a lot and pays £10 each time they are at a Hotel/Train station/Airport to connect the the network, £15 isnt a lot.

For the average Joe, it is.

But the average business user who does this sort of thing will have business accounts so will be able to get better rates already. 3GB for £15 is nothing special in the current market

I did think about doing this... but when I read on the net about it, people say you can only develop if you have a mac, suggesting a virtual pc wouldn't work?

That'd be sweet if it worked though ...

Apparently you can't sell your apps on the App Store if they have been developed on a Hackintosh. I'm not sure how they know, but a friend and I are going to be having a go this summer and it gives me a further excuse to add a Mac into my collection

Yeh that's what I heard ed. Must be the way it compiles or something...

People say 'buy a mini on ebay for £100 odd quid'

but iphone + mac mini + developer license = a lot of money... have to be confident to sell, and thus require a good idea.

- ed you're quite arty, so you shoud be good at iphone apps - as far as I've seen, coding it is a piece of cake.

They don't make it easy for developers do they, buying a mac for starters, then you now have to decide if you want to develop apps to support the Open GL version the old one has, the new one has, or both, they aren't backwards compatible.

They do what they like because they seem to have this cult following of people with more money than sense who blindly upgrade when told to do so

Imagine the abuse microsoft or sony, nokia, etc etc etc would get for doing that, it's ok with apple though.

I was thinking the same thing. MS still gets abuse because you can't use the same computer you ran Windows 3.1 for Workgroups for Vista.
