me again 
just wodering i have a vibe CBRA120 with a crossover that ranges from 40hz to 160hz. i understand (maybe missinformed) that the lower the frequency the better (deeper) its just that this dosnt seem to be the case with me, and it seems to be deeper at the 160hz area

the lower the number the deeper the bass i.e. 20hz = deepest u will EVER hear due too the fact that our hearing cant hear any deeper

Yup, the frequency is measured in Hz so it's a fact that it's a lower note.
You are describing a low-pass filter (LPF). You don't want it set to 40Hz because then you're not letting much of the music go to the sub (i.e. anything below 40Hz). Unless you have quite a good amp/sub you probably aren't getting much power at this frequency anyhow.
You want to set your LPF on the amp to around 100Hz. Play with it.
Also, you won't get anything below 20Hz from a CD player as the format only responds to the range 20Hz to 20kHz, which is incidently the hearing range of a young child.
