Should be a good Fifth gear tonight (for once)

including Focus RS, tiff driving old school hatch backs, charley boreman (he actually is a petrol head, as opposed to the gold medalist z listers they usually have on), plus a few other alright things.

Worth a watch just for the review of Focus RS though imo.

This is the first time i've ever looked forward to Fifth Gear, and i've been looking forward to it all week.

I've watched the other two reviews so many times just to get my fix

Thankfully it's Jason Plato driving it someone who knows what he's doing behind the wheel.

I read a review in the times by that bafoon 'Tom Ford' and he was talking out of his arse. 90% of talking unfunny shit and 10% of actual information which I could've read off a spec sheet.

To top it off, Tom Ford said

'To counter the previous problems the Mk1 Focus RS had with too much power through the front wheels and torque steer, it has a thing called a 'Automatic Torque Biasing Limited slip diff' made by Quaife.

No Tom you fucking muppet, the original Focus RS had one of them too, it's the revo knuckle that sets it apart from the original Focus RS which allows 300 bhp to get put down and not torque steer everywhere.

I hate that they appear to be trying to copy Top Gear in some things they do, and the only presenters i like are tiff, jason and vicky. The other two are twats.

I don't like Vicky any more, she acts a twat and laughs like a spaz

the two morons in the studio inc tom ford are just fucking annoying.
the lanky guy with the goatie style beard can be alright.

I just don't like how they dumb things down and all the crappy celebrities they get on there.

5th gear starts great with a shoot out... then usually lulls for 40 mins and ends with Tiff / Jason driving a good car.

yeah in this series it does seem like they are trying to come up with some things to rival top gear, i hope they dont keep doing that as thats what made me start to like fith gear more. The fact that they actually spent an hour talking about cars

trouble is only the minority of viewers want to watch a car programme.

top gear gets good ratings because its just a comedy show with a background of cars.

I'd prefer to watch a program about cars, with hard facts... I just don't care about boring family / eco cars.

Wish it was just constantly Tiff / Jason driving fast cars, having shoot outs (timed and results shown), and maybe a section on tuning a car (no body kits), track days and amatuer motorsport.

Actually teach people useful stuff like the effects of camber / tyre pressures / wheel toe / LSDs / hard or soft suspension / efficieny of brakes / engine tuning etc.

Rather than everything being so dumbed down you learn nothing except for sounding like a penis

for example 'This car has 150 torques'

Torques is not a measurement... Only lb ft or n/m is the actual measurement.

Also saying 'torque is more important than bhp' and making them sound seperate is dumb. Since the two are related to each other and intwinded.

etc

Just basically, don't make it another dumb top gear clone.

Would also prefer it to be quality and only 30 mins than 1 hr of shit.

People that want to know about that have the internet.

I doubt even most people on this site would be interested in sitting watching that on a sunday or monday evening.

99.9% of people just want to see ragged supercars mixed with funny shit. Top gear seems to work.

I admit I never go out my way to watch 5th gear!!

Exactly... the early 'new' top gear, back in the days of lapping nurburgring

They reviewed fast cars, timed them properly and actually quoted proper facts and information about cars...

These days it's all silly messing about and everything totally dumbed down and silly...

Dont get me wrong, I still watch top gear for the entertainment, but I don't really take anything they say about cars on board any more...

My suggestion may be boring, but not if it has a point etc... like they saw how it effected the cars on timed laps etc.

I guess it appeals to me as I'm the sort of person who plays GT4 or Forza 2, and spend hours tweaking the cars and then doing some laps to see what effect it has on the cars handling / performance and lap time... It's half the fun for me.

Plus people say 'that'd be proper boring' - but I find all the 'project threads' on websites of track cars etc being built fasinating...

Imagine if you had a serious program that followed the build of proper track cars (like grand designs does with houses) and then saw the final product on the track and timed... You could compare say a modified CTR to a modified clio for track use...

Use 1 racing driver and 1 track to make the time's effective...

Infact Japanese Best motoring international already does this with the togue or Tsubuka...

The tuners give them the cars to take round

As interesting as that sounds to us, most of the license paying public would see that as a bit max power & thats why it would never become a reality! You need something that everyone can watch enjoy & understand the wife & kids included!
