Just got one for xmas and just installed Office 2008 and Adobe CS3 suite. Is there any recommended must have apps for the mac?

Its all very new to me...

littlesnitch if your using pirate software. firefox is good, theres some useful plug ins for web developement.

I have adium to use msn, firefox, open office, toast for burning etc., mactheripper, poisoned - gnutella client, vuze (azureus), vlc media player and parallels, and thats about it lol

You do know that a mac is pretty much PC components in a shiny box and macs are also acceptable to spyware/virus's?

It's certainly worth getting littlesnitch and using the OSX firewall!

Also get AppZapper, dragging software to the bin doesn't delete software entirely whereas AppZapper will search for linked files and get rid of it all

VLC and Flip4Mac are a must for playing majority of video formats. Also iLife if you haven't got it.
Transmission or uTorrent for torrent clients - uTorrent is in the beta stages, but still fairly decent. And if using Torrents, then run PeerGuardian OSX as well, blocks known dodgy ip addresses - although not a 100% sound solution, it does help to prevent getting caught.

Oh and keep the mac updated

Indeed, they are also acceptable to viruses and spyware. As the Mac is starting to take off, more and more viruse will filter through.

My Mac Book is in the post still
