Random post.

Been looking at these, just general interest as don't know much about them, can't believe how cheap some seem on the autotrader!

Cheap tax @ 35 a year aint they? Theres an 06 plate car for 3450 on there... plenty of 04's under 3k. Thats mad value. I'd have thought they'd fetch good cash with the cheap tax thing.

Anyway... when they're so cheap you tend to think "hmm one of them and a toy for the weekend" BUT, can much be done to them for power? Remaps, exhausts etc? What power and torque can be achieved?

Also are they actually any good as a reliable dependable car? I notice Monster/Scatt? now has one... any input mate?

Nice one folks

My missus has one a 2004/54 design. It is a great car. good on the juice and nippy.

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

They get great MPG, and the CC|UK people actually say it's nice to drive than the 1.7CDTi.

Be careful, not all the C's are £35 tax/year. Some are £120. tbh, if I was paying that much tax when some of the others were £35, I'd rather have a 1.7CDTi for the fact it's quicker.

imho, the SXi+ model is the one to go for, these still fetch a premium.

More basic, undesirable models are fetching very low amounts.

GSi_16v had one, Monster has one, jr has one, amongst others I'm sure.

Yup, I Love mine. Best car I've ever had!

I've just got 130 miles to £10 at 107.9p a litre. So, they're rather fuel efficient - as well as being rather bloody nippy for a 1248cc diesel.

Mines a design, which comes with a few extras - AC, EW, EM, ABS, EPS.

As driving it is concerened, I just drove up to Steve X16XE's pad yesterday (3 Hours) and it was a comfortable drive. The seating posistion is good too.

As Deano said, the lower tax bracket is 05 onwards, so try and get one of those. Also, stay away from the pre-facelift, the facelifts look so much better IMO.

Yeah they do sound quite interesting... some lower spec models, designs, lifes etc for silly cheap. Didn't realise 05 onwards was cheaper tax, cheers for the heads up However a 53/04 plate model for a good few hundred less would make up for it, deffo have be a facelift one for looks too

Some of you have had Corsa B's also... how do they feel to drive in comparison? More comfy? Handle better?

I'd probably chuck some 40mm springs on either way

Can much be done to tune the engines then? Bit more poke would be nice. But that 130 miles to a tenner is mint! Even @ 89.9 I'm just nudging 70 miles to a tenner round town in my 1.6 Sport driving like a fanny lol.

dont buy one if you want any sort of fun. there very very dull to drive. mine had turbo back exhaust system and a filter. there good for about 100bhp with a remap. i would still say it would be dull to drive evan with a remap.

100BHP isn't bad though, I learnt in a boggo one for a bit, drove alright from memory but I was a n00b lol

I think my 1.6 Sport is quite a dull drive anyway, crap feedback through the steering and flat till 4k engine, not that much fun and to be fair with me doing 90% town driving I have to drive pretty sedately anyway. Sometimes it's a giggle though

Could get one of these for under 3k and 1k on a weekend toy Instead of 4k+ on a nice best of both worlds car... but I dunno yet lol just a general interest thing due to how cheap they seem.

id rather have a standerd 1.7 than a maped 1.3. although for a run about i dout you could get a better car, and save for a weekend car as you say

They didn't do pre-facelift 1.3's. The similar bhp diesel in pre would be a 1.7DTi.

The Corsa D 1.3 can see 125bhp with just a remap but they start with 90ps and £120 tax per year.

Watch out for abused Corsa C's as they're used a lot my security firms and as pool cars. I'd personally try and buy private or main dealer.

What about SXi?

And I thought the 'Energy' was a higher spec than the Design? As the Energy has alloy wheels as standard...

Design is pretty much top spec although some prefer SXi and SXi+ because there a bit sportier, wheels, privacy glass etc..

Design C's had steelies aswell which was strange considering the spec.
