I've converted a .mkv file into an mpg, using gotSent, so i can stream it on my PS3 from my computer through Media Player, only thing is, it stutters every second.
Is this because of the size of the file i'm trying to play? It's 8,34gb i think, would it work better being split into two?
Does anyone else stream 1080p or 720p content through their PS3, if so, does it work any better with TVersity?

Got a 3ghz Dual Core with 4gb RAM, so i wouldn't of thought it'd be under-powered

PC is wired, the PS3 is wireless, can't really get it wired either really.
It's showing 85% strength on the PS3

I should be using either wired of an N router then... wireless struggles with the bandwidth, arse. Will be a ball ache to get it wired, and i can't be arsed buying a new router

I have them working to stream films from my server to my media centre...just like you're doing

As above, wireless will be struggling, imaging how long it would take to send that 8 gig file over wireless.

Aaron, does that work for HD files then?
2 choices really, either wire it, with a £6 Cat5 cable, but make a bit of mess, or buy them plugs for £50, i'll have to talk to the missus about the cables first i think

can you not bring the PC or ps3/screen nearer to the other object and just test before you start laying cables?

yeah, could move the ps3 upstairs to test it out i guess, tbf, just need to move the router again, at the moment i've got a phoneline extension upstairs to the router, and then that wired to the PC, would need a wire downstairs to the PS3 then, so obviously it'd be a lot more sensible to move the router back downstairs and have one wire up to here.
will test it first, then purchase a longer cable probably, cheaper than the plugs, and should be quicker in theory. Just a tad messier

another guy having an issue and hes on wireless. didnt read the whole thread. Someone also mentioned that Blueray streams at about 50mb/s which will be alright on a 100mbit network.

Yeah, in theory wired should be fine, i'll have a play in a bit.
Shame about the quality thing though, but does say as close to 1080p as possible, would be good to be able to watch Heroes in HD every week as well

if your transcoding it could be your pc not being powerful enough if your just streaming it as a direct file you need a wire

it shouldnt be a problem over wireles..
unless you have 802.11a :E
it will be the transcoding, 1080p is far to big to convert on the fly.
