I did have plans to run around 300bhp in my old ibiza, shame i spent more money fixing it then i did modding it!
On the other hand, had my astra since last august and should be near 300bhp in a couple of weeks. Says it all really.

Ive got an ibiza as a daily driver, done 60k since new on standard clutch and gearbox. Running 262bhp and 265lb/ft(done about 20k miles on this setup). I've been up the 1/4 hundreds of time, over to the ring etc, recently ran a 13.61 so they can definatley take the abuse.

I'd go for the Astra turbo. Fit some Eibach springs to stiffen things up a little and your on to a good handleing car that's quicker to start with.

My Ibiza Cupra is great fun and fast, but it has cost me a fair bit in repairs so far

I've had my Mk4 Astra GSi since August, still running standard map, its a perfect all round car, its nice and refined when you want to cruise and its an all out animal when you hit the loud pedal!
Coming from a corsa, I test drove both the Ibiza and the Astra. The Ibiza felt like I was still in the corsa, arguable a faster corsa but I found the Astra handled a lot better than the Ibiza. Needless to say I drove the Astra home and haven't looked back. Bring on CS4!!!
