Astra turbo's are slightly faster, handling the cupra wins hands down totally depends on what sort of car your looking for. Imo id prefer the astra. Funny that

lets be fair that AGU unit is far from standard and hardly any of it is orginal apart from the block?
map for map I would have the Zlet hands down.
Also Rob R had an Ibiza with that lump with a Revo remap and his Astra with the equivilant remap is so much more quicker and just an anaimal on the road.

Id rather have the Cupra over the astra, my mates gsi was just a wee bit slower than mine, his only had the turbo back exhaust and mine was just remapped but otherwise standard.
Handling wise mine was pretty decent with the H&R cup kit. A localish guy to me has a Onvi yellow cupra with 366bhp and over 300lbft of torque which is one of the quickest cars ive been in and its handles superbly

Stephan Klasen, our mapping engineer, set himself a target to build an Opel Speedster turbo capable of running a quarter of a mile in less than 10 seconds. He has come close before at a fraction over 10 seconds.
On Saturday the 1st of September he achieved his goal, after finding another 17 bhp from an already very powerful Z20LET engine. With some tweaks to the cam timing and increasing the air flow meter to a 100mm version, further mapping resulted in 602 BHP.
I've owned an ibiza cupra and currently own an astra gsi. Spec lists are pretty identical but the Astra is a MUCH better all round car.
Handling and braking on the ibiza's are absolutely shite, as are the golfs. Dont give me this "but if you add coilovers and 19 ARB's they handle well" bullshit, im talking out of the box standard car. Astra feels like it has 10 pots compared to VAG set up, even the 312mm set up aint all that.
Tuning wise, £450 gets you to 200bhp in a 1.8t and 230bhp in an astra and the power delivery isn't all or nothing, you get torque that comes in early and stays there, not just dies off. The only way you can get 250bhp on a k03s is on Jabbas rollers
Also show me a 1.8t that can hit 310bhp and 380lbft torque from a turbo that can be purchased from main dealers
In a nut shell, ibiza = young lads 1st turbo car that will crash itself round a bend with TC turned on, or just understeer off the road with TC turned off

how is that relevent
The highest standard spec BAM 225BHP 1.8t is only good for 300lbs/ft so a 600BHP will be heavily modified
Out the 2 engines I doubt there is much in it
