that purple nova was quite amusing, kept reving it while in the queue only to be pushed off the starting line because something went wrong, was on that run aswell i believe, which is how i ended up racing pickford.

Considering it was stripped etc it didnt do very well to be fair...

When he did get it going, he just could get the power down. Wheel span on the spot for ages. May not have known/been used to driving it yet though.

Whoever took those photo's of Fonz's launches, I am dead impressed, do you mind me asking what you shoot and the settings you were using when you took those? i bought myself a decent bridge camera before summer and being unemployed atm am trying to teach myself how to use it!!!!

gavin18787 - in response to the 1.0 12v VS 1.2 8v arguement, i was the previous owner of Fonz's 1st Sting (P181 XFB - http://www.corsasport.co.uk/board/viewthread.php?tid=404110 to see what he did to it!!!!) and I would regularly keep up with 1.4 8v's which are only 60bhp standard, so a sting over a 1.2 8v is a forgone conclusion if both a standard.

He bought them from the photographers that were there. Blackett Photography or something like that.

Neither the 12v or 1.2 8v are standard, but both have very similar modifications, as mentioned before.

yeh i did mine
plotted through excel

speed on the y - axis and time on the x-axis

used my fastest run, and plotted two points, times and speeds from the 1/8 result and 1/4 result. then just drew a line from the 60mph to the intersecting line, then down to the x-axis (time) gave just under 17.3s

thats 1.6seconds faster than the book!
