lol when are you idiots going to realise i dont care who wins, i bought my console to play games on not watch movies hence why i dont own a hd drive.

i will keep my upscaling standalone player until which ever wins i will buy it then

i think they will have to change the name though, blu-ray just sounds too geeky for the mass market of non techno phobes.

might see a joining and rename to something more inline with current defaults

80% of the surveyed market now knew the brand.

I think it's just a case of that, blu-ray isn't any worse than hd-dvd, people just new about dvd and hd and made the connection quicker.

it just sounds wrong imo, not like normal naming conventions which are more self explnatory to the general public

ie hd = high definition etc blu-ray doesnt really mean anything apart from it has blu rays lol

I bet 80% of the surveyed population couldn't tell you what VHS stood for, you don't have to understand a name to know it's the market leader.

I don't think it sounds geeky in the slightest. Just a word (or two), how many people are actually going to make the connection between the name and the coloured light reading the disk?

i think the difference is they all meant real things, ffs they arent even spelling blue properly

blu ray dvd sounds good to me flows off the tongue

hd dvd has too many d's for my liking
