what am i supposed to be wiring up here, ive got the rca lead from the one preout in the head unit, the speaker cable which goes off to the sub but which way round do these go ??

They go in the input side, if you dont know what cable goes to what.. Just give it a blast. If the sub starts moving backwards when theres bass youve got them the wrong way round.

is the polarity right from the amp to the sub?

ermmmmm, i dont know what that means, but its a new amp and im gonna be replacing the sub in a couple of weeks, JBL GTO sub atm and Alpine1.600 amp

swap the rca's over and see if it makes a difference
