I've not been on this board for long but thought I'd post the reason I joined up.

I purchased this poverty spec Corsa from my Cousin as she's bought an 07 Corsa.

Reason I got it so cheap are as follows

The front end had an argument with a bus, The heater matrix has gone and the engine is junk due to be driven with a blown head gasket. Lucky it's only a 1.2

I've stripped the interior and just need to remove the head lining as it's yellow from smoke, I'll be cleaning it up and spraying it.

My plans are to fit a X16XE and have the car resprayed in the original star silver.
This project will be a slow process but I'll add more pics as I go.

1.2 16v's are HARRRDD to blow head gaskets on iirc

Looks like a good base though, get that rust sorted, new front wing/bumper and get busy!

Treat the paintwork befroe you go for a full respray

Story is my cousin is dim when it comes to cars. She's been driving around with a water leak and not noticed the temp rise.
I've done a compression test and got
1 = 140
2 = 115
3 = 120
4 = 140

Obviously the gasket has gone between cylinders 1 and 2. I've got the engine running and it only smokes when revved but I can't drive a 1.2
The car was going to have a C20XE fitted but as my wife is learning to drive I don't want to kill her by letting her drive an XE Corsa.

I'll be fitting a different front bumper, new wing and bonnet as that's started to go where the V grill is but not on the surface yet.
Other than that the body is spot on. I'll be fitting a strengthening kit whilst the engine is out.
Barring the wing there is no other damage on the inner wing or slam panel etc.

Over the last week I've purchased a few things for the project.

First off I bought this for the C16XE, Electric windows, mirrors and associated loom. Also fitting the GSi kit but not the rear lights off it

Started to remove some engine parts ready for the lump to come out on Tuesday. It was fun cutting away the slam panel

Also purchased these lights.

That's it for now. More pics will be added along the way.

That's first priority once the engine is in and running, I was planning on Vectra 288mm Calipers and discs but have since heard some Corsa' don't work well with these.
I've whipped off the brake servo from the GSi in case I can use that for bigger brakes.
Also removed the anti roll bars for fitting to the 1.2, I'll fit the ARB with polly bushes and a nice Koni suspension kit.

I was waiting for the why kill a GSi comments

Where do I start, The drivers door hinges were welded back onto the car with pigeon shit so the bottom of the door caught the wing. The boot is holier than Jesus, The drivers seats rail was welded back in poorly, There is a hole in the spare wheel well. Front wing and bonnet were rotting through and the car has has a real poor paint job.

I said to myself if the car was mint I'd XE it for myself. It is/was a shit box so I stripped everything good and just sent the shell for crushing

Also the car I'm fixing up is a solid X reg and 8 years younger than the GSi.

Not done anything on the car of late although I have done a little shopping for it

I picked up this Sebring back box for it. Not too sure on it personally but it'll do for now. Besides I do like the sound of a Sebring exhaust. Also got a Magnex S/S centre section to go with it.

These are the wheels I picked up. I'm going to have them refurbed in a gun metal grey. Excuse the crap pics, I stuck 2 wheels on to see how it looks and the weather was shite so rushed. And yes I know it needs lowering

Been after these front seats for a while and got lucky when they were on a forum for 5 mins, my mate spotted them and we collected yesterday.

Until I started this project my garage was pretty clear and useable, Now it's just a dumping ground for parts

I was thinking of bolting or welding the original Corsa frame to the Recaro runner.

Cheers Ste. For everyone wondering the seats are out of a Vectra B GSi.
These ones are the facelift version which have GSi stitched into the seat above the Recaro. Pre-facelift have just Recaro.

These seats usually sell for around £200 for just the fronts.
