what the hell is that other pipe attatched to it? Im guessing you'd just punch a hole in the sock for the air temp sensor

its not so much the bends or length of the pipe thats restrictive but if you look in the pic, where the pipe attatches to the inlet manifold and bends round the end of the inlet manifold the internal diameter reduces down to less than 1" in width.

no problems with heatsoak either as tested on the dyno, that area of the engine doesnt get very hot, nothing a cold air feed wont sort out.

I believe it's just a drain incase water gets inside from the airbox.

yeah the x16xe wont be sucking THAT MUCH air for that plastic pipe to be restrictive, maybe if it was a turbo, i think most of the gains were from taking off the airbox
try it again, but put the sock on the end of the plastic pipe

u wud that b any beta than an open cone fillter that ever 1 say will suffer from heat soak

Restriction on the inlet is the biggest problem with the X14/16XE Steve.

i thought the pipe helped with low down torque, something to do with air pressure and all that. Surely by taking this pipe out you're creating the same sort of effect as a mantzel?
