When I was taking my cold air feed off, I managed to snap the screw which holds it to the slam panel

Anyway, the throttle response of the car is actually much better without the cold air feed on. However I am worried about it being so close to the engine, that it will just start sucking in hot air.

If I was to buy an aftermarket cold air feed and somehow strap it to the air box and lower grill, will this be ok? Or will the cold air feed so low to the ground pick up loads of dust/grit/water etc and ruin the air box?

Been quoted £7.70 retail for a new cold air feed from Vaux, so not exactly expensive but wondered if a better feed would be beneficial etc?!

when i took my cold air feed off i snapped the screw aswell, i never bothered replacing it and theres hasnt been any problems, just leave it.
i also didnt notice any difference in throttle response so put it back on. a new clean air filter made more of a difference (the old one was properly nasty)

Ahhh right, so you've just left your cold air feed all flappy etc? Suppose I could drill a hole in the top of the cold air feed, and zip tie it to the slam panel to hold it more securely!

its not really flappy cos of it attaching to the airbox in 2 places it cold probably do with being cable tied down though as it sits slightly up from the slam panel

it would only really have any benefit if you drill the airbox i think, if you really want to add an additional feed then just use a bit of a tumble dryer vent pipe or go and rob a bit off pipe from a car in the scrappy

make a custom airbox...i had an idea for one a while ago, here goes

1. piece of guttering downpipe

2. plastic hack saw
3. tiger seal
4. 5 mins spare

idea was to use a piece of tube attactched to the airbox @ 24 degree angle, pointing down behind the headlight...sound weird but i will get a pic of my dblias which gies you the idea

I have just looked in the engine bay when I zip tied the cold air feed back on, and there isn't really room for a feed to go down to the lower bumper. It'll be touching rubber piper etc that goes into the engine

I have no idea what the parts are called.

where it says dblias dtynamic would be where you could attach a tube @ 45 degrees. my dblias does have a metal inlet pipe which you cant see in the pic

jus get a cold air feed. put it low down in you bumper/grill and drill the bottom of the airbox will be better as the air is colder at the bottom

low air pressure is the bottom of the front bumper,
middle pressure is in front of the windscreen
high pressure is where the head lamps and front grill are

If your happy with the throttle response then just leave it off, I doubt very much if you would notice a difference by routing your own cold air feed.

Deano, I gave my standard air feed away to someone on here

I have a cold air feed going to my lower grille, that runs past the black pipes and seems fine

ill try and find some pics of it

Only pic i can find is this -

i bust my screw once and refitted it and left it to it, seem to work. iirc the screw isnt the only securing point.

without shouldnt be a problem, if your genuinely worried get a cold air feed (Travis Perkins do a hot air/exhaust tube that will be suitable) and fit that on, cable tie it round the inlet of the air box and goods a gud 'un

Errmmm this is 1 year old guys. It's secured using a zip tie

decided against the whole cold air feed anyway, 'cause of insurance

I just used my K+n cold air feed to the standard airbox it's an excellent fit, it goes to the upper grill but i think i might change it to the lower grill as there is higher pressure there (high pressure stagnation point)

the cold air pressure feed needs to be any where behind the front grill but closer to the top of the front bumper but still behind the front grill
