just been told i need a new rack on. anyone know how much of a pain in the arse its gonna be on a 1.4 16v.

i put PAS on my port with the engine out but thik u could get the bolts from underneath and undo the the 2 13s on the tie rods and remove the whole rack from the bulhead out of one side and not forgettin to disconnect it from the steerin column if u have PAS disconnect it etc

just wondering if the engines gonna get in the way cos i had to drop the rear engine mount to get it off my 1.2 so looks like the same.

Id say it would be much easier with the engine out, I've had my engine out a couple times (same as yours, infact my car started off as a caribic blue sri 16V like yours!) I wouldnt want to attempt it without the engine out, if I really had to do it with the engine in though, I would say hydraulic ramps would be essential.
