Well, made the trip to plymouth yesterday to pick up my engine and here she is (apologies for the pics, camera phone as my SLR is broken!!):

Original, heavy, flywheel:

New lightened and balanced flywheel:

So it now has, balanced crank with new rings and pocketed standard pistons, ARP Rod Bolts, head has had alot taken off to get the compression up, lightened and balanced flywheel, block has been drilled to allow quicker flow of oil back to the sump, new Mild Race Cams (timed up on standard pulleys for now!!) and thats about it. Hopefully I should notice quite a difference so we shall see!

And while the engine was out, I took the oppurtunity to remove the firewall/bulkhead and also respray the engine bay:

I'll be working on it over christmas so will keep you all updated!

Its an X14XE, and we weren't sure either about running cams with standard pulleys and standard management, but my engine builder (JRE Racing Engines) assured me it was all timed to perfection, and it starts and runs fine!!! It will work better with some verniers and management, but couldn't afford those just yet!!

Just looked through all my recent pics and this is the only one that really shows it:

The car is coming out of the workshop on Monday so i'll get loads of pics then. The bonnet is fibreglass with a Carbon overlay. I only found out it was carbon when i hit it at an event and had to sand the paint back, and then i found out it was carbon under the paint! Then decide to sand all the paint off and do it red around the outside. Is quite effective i think!

Well, it runs fine!! We got it down and run up and down the road today. Engine runs sweet and can really notice the difference. MOT tomorrow and need to get the tracking done again and we should nearly be there.

I think it looks really good in the new colours, what does everyone reckon???

Comments welcome
