Last night my kettle blew and it has knocked out all of my sockets in the kitchen (cooker is ok)

All of the other power in the house is fine, including all other sockets!

I get up this morning and the heating hasnt come on (combi), the pilot light is on so I am assuming its not a problem for a plumber!

Does anyone have any advice on what the problem may be, I am clueless when it comes to this!

I have checked the fuse box (old style, non trip switch) and i have "sockets/sockets/lights/lights/cooker/water&heater"

The lighting in the house is fine and the sockets appear to be fine excluding the kitchen!

Is it likely the kitchen and bathroom might be wired into the water/heater fuse?

Its a terrace if that helps!

Any help greatly appreciated!

It will be a fuse. You just need to identify which one! Easiest way is to switch all your lights on and plug desk lamps or radios into the wall sockets and then take one fuse out at a time until you work out which one is which. Once you know make sure you label them better than they are at the minute.

Yeah, sounds like a fuse the supply for the boiler is probably on the same circuit as the sockets that have gone out, your kitchen probably has its own ringmain and they have prob spurred off that for the boiler supply (electrical).
Change the fuse and as long as no damage job done, should be 32 amp if its a ring. Also (obviously) throw kettle away!

thanks for the replies

i am going to replace all of the fuses in the box for peace of mind! it contains

2 x 5a - lights, lights
1 x 15a? cooker (i think)
3 x 30a - Sockets, sockets, heater (i think)

Hopefully this will sort the problem otherwise i will get a spark in!

as far as i can see it must be the "heater/water heater" fuse because all of the others appear to work!

I just thought it was strange the boiler and kitchen sockets being linked into one
